Iran ready to resume talks if US proves sincerity

Iran is ready to return to diplomatic negotiations with the United States if Washington demonstrates that it is serious about reaching a peaceful settlement.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, that Tehran considers a return to diplomacy possible but wants the United States to demonstrate respect for agreements signed by both sides.

“The ball is in the US court. It is better to return to diplomacy, but we must see a genuine desire from the United States to return to peace. Whatever document they want to sign, they must demonstrate that they respect the signatures of both sides. The US must convince the mediators and Iran of its sincerity,” the source said.

The Iranian official said Tehran also considers negotiations on the nuclear issue possible, but only after the full implementation of the Islamabad agreement, which envisaged the unfreezing of Iranian assets and the lifting of restrictions on Iranian oil exports.

Earlier, Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said Iran had conveyed its conditions for ending the war to the United States through Qatari mediators and was awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
