Jailed former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili sang the Ukrainian national anthem during a court hearing, saying he wanted to show his support for Ukraine.
Axar.az reports that Saakashvili said in a Facebook post that he had not been allowed to wear a Ukrainian military uniform at the hearing, so he decided to sing the anthem instead.
He said he chose the Ukrainian anthem because “Ukraine is fighting” and because he considers himself a proud Ukrainian citizen who is supporting the country.
Saakashvili also said that he had fought for Georgia’s national symbols, including its anthem and flag, and that Ukraine now needed his support as well.
