Rezaei says Netanyahu led Trump into war with Iran

Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of leading US President Donald Trump into war with Iran.

Axar.az reports that, in an interview with Al Jazeera, Rezaei said Trump underestimated Iran and was influenced by Netanyahu.

“Netanyahu dragged Trump into the quagmire and is now himself in a difficult position,” Rezaei said. “And just as Trump started this foolish war, he is now foolishly continuing it.”

Rezaei claimed that the US campaign against Iran had been driven by Israeli pressure rather than accurate military, economic or political assessments. He said Trump would have sought a different course if the United States had properly assessed the consequences of confronting Iran.

Rezaei also said Iran was fully prepared to defend itself if the United States launched another attack, while calling for the war to end through negotiations.
