Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke with US President Donald Trump and agreed to meet in New York.

Axar.az reports, citing Zelensky’s official Telegram channel, that he described the conversation as important and said the meeting “could change a lot,” adding that diplomatic efforts were continuing.

"I have just spoken with President Trump. It was an important conversation, and we managed to discuss many things. We agreed to meet in New York, and this meeting could change a lot. There is diplomatic momentum," Zelensky wrote.

Zelensky thanked Trump for the visit to Kyiv by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, saying they had discussed key details and that the US representatives had seen the situation in Ukraine.

He said the peace process remained the top priority and that the two sides were working on possible de-escalation measures and fundamental security issues, including energy and food security and the protection of civilians.

Zelensky also thanked Trump for signing the Lindsey Graham bill, saying that “peace must prevail.”
