US F-16 fighter jet crashes at Spangdahlem Air Base

A US F-16 fighter jet crashed at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany’s Eifel region on Tuesday afternoon, injuring one person.

Axar.az reports, citing Bild, that the pilot ejected from the aircraft and survived. Firefighters and police were deployed to the scene, while a large plume of black smoke was visible from nearby communities.

According to initial information, the aircraft belonged to the US Air Force’s 480th Fighter Squadron of the 52nd Fighter Wing, which is stationed at Spangdahlem.

The cause of the crash remains unclear, and an investigation is underway.
