US President Donald Trump has said members of his administration held a roughly three-hour meeting with an Iranian delegation on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that Trump described the meeting as “very good” and said another meeting was scheduled for the “very near future.”

“It went very well,” Trump told reporters while sitting alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “It was a very good meeting.”

Trump said Iran had two options: “potential greatness” through a peace deal or “obliteration.”

“It’s two choices,” Trump said. “In one case, it’s obliteration, and the other alternative is potential greatness. It could be a great country.”

Asked whether US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner had participated in the meeting, Trump did not dispute their involvement.

“Well, there’s nothing to say. They had a very good meeting, a very productive meeting. And they have another one scheduled in the very near future,” Trump said before asking Witkoff and Kushner whether they wanted to comment.

Witkoff said: “I feel very good right now. It’s a blessing to work for President Trump.”

Trump added: “They had a very good meeting, and we’ll see how it turns out. But certainly, it’s to their advantage to make a deal, and we can do that. It’s preferable, I guess.”
