Ukraine is ready to sign a landmark drone defense agreement with the United States.

Axar.az reports, citing CBS News, that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is prepared to sign the agreement on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, although the deal could be finalized at a later date when Washington is ready.

The agreement would establish a framework for the two countries to expand the testing and production of Ukrainian defense technologies in the United States.

Sources said the agreement would go beyond contracts with individual Ukrainian companies and create a broader framework for Ukrainian defense firms to work directly with US companies and the US military.

According to CBS News, Ukrainian technology has already been used in US efforts to counter Shahed drones. In March, former US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll asked entrepreneur Eric Schmidt to supply 13,000 Merops interceptor drones and 10,000 Bumblebee reconnaissance and strike drones for use in the Middle East.
