Turkish journalist Ali Tarakci has been arrested over a social media post claiming that a senior minister would resign on Friday.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Ankara prosecutors launched an investigation into Tarakci on suspicion of “publicly disseminating misleading information” over his post saying, “A very important minister will resign on Friday.”

Tarakci was detained as part of the investigation and later referred to Ankara’s 8th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, which ordered his arrest. His home was searched, and digital devices were seized during the investigation.

Tarakci was sent to Sincan Prison following the court decision.
