Poland is seeking to establish a Patriot missile service and production capability on its territory, Polish Deputy Defence Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said.

Axar.az reports, citing RMF24, that Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said Poland’s efforts to secure a Patriot service center and eventually production are independent of any decision concerning Ukraine.

She was asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that U.S. President Donald Trump had made a final decision to grant Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot missiles.

“We will see if that happens. We had proposed that if such a factory is planned to be built in Ukraine, we propose building it in Poland so that it would be on so-called safe territory,” Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said.

She stressed that a decision concerning Ukraine would not end Poland’s efforts to develop its own Patriot capabilities.

“What my interlocutors in Washington confirmed is that even if such a decision is made for Ukraine, it does not change our efforts and does not rule out approval for Poland,” she said.
