Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has rejected claims that Tehran violated its previous agreement, saying the United States breached the deal first.

Axar.az reports that Araghchi made the remarks in an interview with NBC News, while discussing diplomacy and the possibility of a new agreement.

“First of all, we didn't violate the deal. They violated it first. But if they have their story, and they think that we have violated the deal, why did they bomb us? They could have activated paragraph 12 of the MoU, which is for, you know, dispute settlement,” Araghchi said.

He said Iran remained committed to diplomacy but was also prepared for conflict.

“We trust ourselves. We are ready for diplomacy; we are ready for war at the same time. They had tested us in both cases. They tested us in their aggression twice, and they are welcome if they want to test us once again,” Araghchi said.

He said Iran had proposed a seven-day plan under which specific measures would be taken to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, followed by the resumption of negotiations for a final agreement.
