Kallas: EU can join Saudi-led maritime coalition as observer

The European Union can participate as an observer in the Saudi-led Multinational Maritime Defense Coalition, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said.

Axar.az reports, citing Al-Arabiya, that Kallas also said the number of ships requesting protection in the Red Sea has been increasing.

She noted that the EU needs more ships for its Aspides mission, which was established to protect commercial shipping in the Red Sea, to become fully operational.
