U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that American and Iranian negotiators exchanged messages through mediators on Monday.

Axar.az reports, citing CBS News, that Trump did not provide details about the talks.

"We're going to win, ​as far as ​I'm concerned, it's going to ‌be ⁠one way or the other," Trump said in the Oval ​Office. "It's ​going ⁠to go pretty quickly."

CBS News reported earlier that indirect U.S.-Iran negotiations had begun Monday morning. A U.S. official said Trump was prepared to offer Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds if Tehran makes concrete progress on its nuclear program.

The official said, however, that no agreement would be reached unless the nuclear issue is addressed, while the two sides remain divided over the timing of their commitments.

An Iranian diplomatic source told CBS News that the main difficulty is that Trump does not appear to have a clear position on what he wants from the negotiations, making it difficult to move from discussions toward a concrete agreement.
