Russian President Vladimir Putin has increased the authorized strength of the Russian Armed Forces to 2,441,630 personnel, including 1,550,500 military personnel, according to a presidential decree.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that previously, the total figure stood at 2,426,130, including 1,535,000 military personnel. Thus, the number of military personnel has increased by 15,500.

Under the same decree, Putin instructed the government to provide the Defense Ministry with the federal budget funding required to increase the number of military personnel.

The decree takes effect on the day it is signed.
