Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Israel’s enemies may attempt to carry out attacks ahead of the country’s October Knesset election.

Axar.az reports, citing The Jerusalem Post, that Netanyahu said there were signs that attacks could be attempted in the period leading up to the election.

“There are signs that leading up to the elections, our enemies will try to attack us,” Netanyahu said at Tel Nof Air Force Base. “I am sending you a message: Don’t mess with us. Our long arm will reach you anywhere, and at any time.”

Netanyahu did not specify which groups or countries he was referring to.

Security officials assess that Hezbollah and Hamas could seek to influence the election through attacks, including kidnappings. Israeli security forces have raised alert levels in recent weeks and increased coordination between the Air Force and ground forces.

The Northern Command is also concerned about possible explosive devices planted by Hezbollah along routes and near military positions in southern Lebanon.
