Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has received EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in Damascus.

Axar.az reports, citing the Syrian presidency's X account, that al-Sharaa met with Kallas and her accompanying delegation at the People’s Palace in Damascus in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

The sides discussed relations between Syria and the European Union and ways to develop them, as well as regional developments.

They also discussed expanding areas of cooperation to support stability, reconstruction and development in Syria.

Earlier, the EU announced the allocation of 51 million euros to clear mines and explosive remnants of war from Syrian territory.
