Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot killed in combat

A Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet pilot has been killed in combat, Ukraine’s Air Force Command said.

Axar.az reports, citing the Ukrainian Air Force Command, that Captain Marat Mambetov was carrying out missile and bomb strikes against Russian forces on one of the front lines on October 1 when his aircraft was hit by an enemy missile.

The pilot ejected from the aircraft but did not survive.

Mambetov, 25, was the commander of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade, known as the “Ghost of Kyiv” unit.

The Air Force Command expressed condolences to his family and loved ones, saying he defended Ukraine until his last breath.
