Peskov: Russia does not plan to use nuclear weapons

Russia does not plan to use nuclear weapons and has called on European countries to remain calm on the issue, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Peskov was asked whether Russia was considering the use of nuclear weapons.

“No. It is Europeans who are thinking about Russia using nuclear weapons. We urge them to restrain their emotions and look at things objectively,” Peskov said.

He added that European countries and NATO had no reason to be concerned if they did not plan to threaten Russia.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia was not preparing for a war with Europe, arguing that there were no motives or grounds for such a conflict.
