Ukraine reports first combat use of FP-7 ballistic missile

Ukraine has used its domestically produced FP-7 tactical ballistic missile in combat for the first time.

Axar.az reports, citing the Kyiv Post, that the FP-7 was developed by Ukrainian defence company Fire Point and has a reported range of up to 200 kilometres and a warhead capacity of up to 150 kilograms.

The missile was first test-launched in February 2026. Its development, along with the longer-range FP-9, was officially announced in September 2025.

Fire Point founder and chief designer Denys Shtilerman has compared the FP-7 with the US-made ATACMS and said it costs roughly half as much. The company says all components, including the engine and flight-control systems, are produced domestically.

The first combat use marks a new stage in Ukraine’s efforts to develop domestically produced long-range strike capabilities.
