A fire at the historic F. L. Miller mansion near St. Isaac’s Cathedral in central St. Petersburg, Russia, has spread across 2,000 square metres.
Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the building was not in use and had been vacated for reconstruction.
The city’s Emergency Situations Ministry said firefighting crews were working to contain the blaze and protect neighbouring buildings. Around 40 emergency personnel and eight pieces of equipment were involved in firefighting operations.
No casualties have been reported.
The mansion was built in the second half of the 19th century.
