Russia awaits Armenia response on railway proposal

Russia is awaiting Armenia’s response to its proposal to restore two sections of the Armenian railway, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that the proposal concerns two railway sections operated under the concession management of Russian Railways.

"Today, the matter was discussed, including in connection with the construction and restoration of two small sections of the Armenian railway under the concession of Russian Railways. And we drew attention to the fact that we [i.e., Russia] assist the restoration of these two sections and are ready to participate and assist Armenia precisely from the point of view of ensuring a transport link from Yeraskh to Nakhchivan, and from Gyumri to the Turkish border," Overchuk said.
