Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney plans to visit Turkiye this month to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that the visit would be the first dedicated bilateral trip to Turkiye by a Canadian prime minister in recent decades.
According to the report, Carney and Erdogan could discuss free-trade negotiations launched during the NATO summit in Ankara in July, as well as potential cooperation in energy and defence. Canadian and Turkish trade ministers agreed this week to accelerate the negotiations ahead of the planned meeting.
The dates and full agenda of Carney’s planned visit have not been disclosed. Neither the Canadian prime minister’s office nor Erdogan’s office immediately commented.
