Ghalibaf: Hormuz will remain closed until conditions met

Americans, who say different things in the media, have recently put forward proposals through a mediator. But they must understand that the era of running down the clock and dictating unilateral demands is over, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.

Axar.az reports, citing IRNA, that Ghalibaf said the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until conditions outlined in the Islamabad memorandum are fulfilled.

“The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is completely clear and firm: the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until our seven conditions under the Islamabad Memorandum are fulfilled,” he said.

Ghalibaf accused Washington of sending contradictory messages to confuse Iranian public opinion and said Tehran would assess US actions based on their actual conduct.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is not a country that determines its broader policy and national security based on tweets or daily interviews by American officials. We base our actions on the enemy’s actual behavior and actions, not on rhetoric or false dichotomies created in the media.”
