Iran considers Russia's proposal on enriched uranium

Iran will listen to Russia’s proposal to receive Iran’s 60% enriched uranium but will ultimately make a decision based on its own national interests, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said.

Axar.az reports, citing Iranian media, that commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s remarks about Iran’s nuclear material, Baghaei said Tehran maintains close relations with Moscow and regularly consults Russia on nuclear issues.

“You cannot force countries to adopt a particular position. Russia has good relations with us and has always tried to find ways to reduce tensions. We are in contact with Russia and will listen to the proposal, but ultimately we must make a decision based on our own interests,” Baghaei said.

He added that Iran coordinates with Russia and China on nuclear developments and maintains regular consultations with both countries through bilateral channels as well as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
