US President Donald Trump said Sunday that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will assume the newly created role of artificial intelligence czar while continuing to oversee the U.S. intelligence community.
Axar.az reports that Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social, saying he was establishing a “Super Intelligence Force” to coordinate the federal government’s efforts to ensure the United States remains a global leader in artificial intelligence.
According to Trump, the force will bring together senior U.S. officials to coordinate the government’s engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers and AI companies.
The initiative will be led by Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.
Trump said the Super Intelligence Force will report directly to him and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
He described the technology as potentially more significant than the Industrial Revolution and the internet, saying the initiative would seek to protect U.S. interests and improve the lives of Americans.
