Ghalibaf calls for peace and stability in Caucasus

The region urgently requires calm founded upon the preservation of official borders, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, that speaking during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Tehran, Ghalibaf said regional stability required preserving internationally recognized borders and warned that foreign interference could fuel insecurity.

“Experience has shown that the meddling of extra-regional powers generates insecurity. These powers merely covet the resources and capacities of regional nations to pursue their own interests,” Ghalibaf said.

Mirzoyan said Armenia was seeking to expand cooperation with its neighbors in transit, energy, and infrastructure.

"Countries in the region have unique opportunities in the fields of transport, energy, infrastructure, and others, so we should expand and develop our cooperation. For this reason, Armenia is seeking to develop its transport links with neighboring countries," Mirzoyan said.
