Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have agreed to urgently implement their collective defence commitments under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, according to a joint statement issued after an extraordinary committee meeting in Riyadh.
Axar.az reports, citing TRT Haber, that the three countries strongly condemned attempts to target Mecca and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks on cities and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia. They reaffirmed their “unequivocal rejection” of any attack or threat to Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.
The statement said the parties would take measures to provide agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia.
"The committee decided to immediately begin implementing collective defense commitments and, within this framework, take measures to provide Saudi Arabia with the agreed military forces and capabilities and rapidly deploy them within the agreed arrangements, in accordance with the national legislation of the parties, thereby strengthening the state of readiness to counter threats, military integration and collective capabilities," the statement said.
Turkiye and Pakistan also praised the readiness and professionalism of the Saudi armed forces in responding to threats and attacks against the kingdom.
The committee also appointed retired Pakistani Lt. Gen. Nauman Mahmood as secretary-general of the alliance for a three-year term.
