Iran summons French ambassador over student protests

Iran summoned France’s ambassador to Tehran over what it described as the French government’s violent handling of student protests and widespread human rights violations.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, that the French ambassador was summoned to Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday following the government’s response to student protests in France.

It is worth noting that protests by high school students, which began last week in the Ile-de-France region, have now spread across France. The protesters are demonstrating against overloaded class schedules, teacher shortages and other problems in the education system. Protesters have set schools and cars on fire and caused riots.

More than 5,000 people have already been detained, most of them schoolchildren aged 15 to 18.
