Trump welcomes Turkiye, Pakistan troop pledge to Saudi Arabia

U.S. President Donald Trump has welcomed an agreement by Turkiye and Pakistan to send military forces to Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Defense Alliance.

Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu, that Trump said Wednesday he supported the decision, saying Turkiye and Pakistan want to help Saudi Arabia and that he viewed it positively.

"I think they want to help Saudi Arabia, and I think that’s great," Trump said.

The comments came two days after Turkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan agreed to immediately implement collective defense commitments under the pact and take steps to provide military forces and capabilities for rapid deployment to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Turkiye’s ruling AK Party said the defense agreement would be submitted to parliament within days for ratification.

Any deployment of Turkish troops to Saudi Arabia would require approval by the Turkish parliament.
