Pashinyan explains why Azerbaijani soldier was detained

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said if the Azerbaijani soldier had not opened fire, we would have returned him to Azerbaijan that same day.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Pashinyan made the remarks in a conversation with journalists.

“The soldier opened fire, injured a citizen and entered people’s homes. If none of this had happened, we would have returned the soldier to Azerbaijan that same day. But now, this has become a problem,” he said.

It should be noted that reports that Azerbaijani serviceman Nasimi Musayev had crossed the border and been detained in Armenia emerged on October 1. On October 2, a court ordered that he be placed in pretrial detention for two months. Musayev is to have left his military unit without authorization on September 26.
