IDF kills two Hamas commanders in Gaza strikes

The Israeli military says it has killed two Hamas militants in separate strikes in the Gaza Strip, including a commander who was involved in the October 7 attack and the abduction of an Israeli soldier’s body.

Axar.az reports, citing the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), that Ibrahim Alam, a commander in Hamas’ military wing, was killed in a strike in the Khan Younis area earlier this week.

According to the IDF, Alam entered Israeli territory during the October 7 attack and participated in the killing of Israeli civilians. The military also accused him of taking part in the abduction of the body of Sergeant Shaked Dahan to Gaza.

In a separate strike the following day, the IDF said it killed Mu'tasem Muhammad Suleiman Salah, whom it identified as a member of Hamas’ military wing.

The IDF said the two men had recently been involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and in efforts to restore Hamas’ military capabilities, which it said violated the ceasefire.

The military added that measures were taken before the strikes to reduce the risk to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
