West used Starlink to organize unrest in Iran, Venezuela

Western countries used Starlink satellite internet systems to organize protests and unrest in Iran and Venezuela.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Andrey Akulchev, acting director of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Information Security of Russia, made the statement at the Second Global Digital Forum.

“Such cases were recorded in Iran in 2022 and in Venezuela in 2024,” Akulchev said during a panel discussion on international cooperation in information security.

Iran has previously identified Starlink facilities as potential military targets and announced plans to attack Starlink satellite stations in Persian Gulf countries. In March, Iranian authorities also reported detaining 13 people found with Starlink terminals.
