Kremlin warns Russians against travelling to Europe

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has warned Russian citizens that travelling to European Union countries is dangerous following the detention of Russian military blogger Mikhail Zvinchuk in Montenegro.

Axar.az reports, citing Vesti, that Peskov urged public figures subject to sanctions to consider the consequences of their actions, noting that Moscow considers the sanctions illegal under international law.

“Visiting European countries is currently dangerous for Russian citizens. I can say this with full confidence and responsibility,” Peskov said.

"We consider these sanctions illegal under international law. But in European countries themselves and across the EU, violating sanctions is a criminal offence," he continued.

Peskov added that Russian diplomats would work to ensure the rights of the detained Russian citizens were respected.
