EU praises Azerbaijan's humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

The European Union has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, highlighting its particular importance amid ongoing attacks on the country's energy infrastructure and preparations for winter.

Axar.az informs, citing Rеport, that a representative of the European External Action Service (EEAS) made the remarks.

"Azerbaijan is a reliable energy partner to the EU and has contributed to needed support to Ukraine. As High Representative Kallas mentioned, when visiting Azerbaijan, the EU is 'grateful for Azerbaijan's humanitarian support for Ukraine'," the EEAS representative said in response to Rеport's inquiry.

According to the representative, alongside support from the EU and its member states, assistance from other international partners, including Azerbaijan, also plays an important role. This support helps meet Ukraine's urgent needs and strengthen its resilience.

The EEAS representative noted that Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure and civilians are aimed at intimidating the population, undermining the economy and weakening the country's resilience, particularly ahead of winter.

On October 7, Azerbaijan sent another shipment of electrical equipment to Ukraine as humanitarian aid. The cargo was worth a total of 2.5 million manats and included transformers, 186 kilometres of electrical cables, wires and other equipment needed to restore Ukraine"s energy infrastructure.
