US temporarily eases sanctions on Russian diesel exports

The United States has temporarily eased sanctions to allow the sale, delivery and importation of Russian-origin diesel fuel to global markets through April 7, 2027.

Axar.az reports, citing the US Treasury Department, that the measure was implemented on October 9, following President Donald Trump’s directive. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a General License, authorizing transactions related to the sale, delivery, unloading and importation of Russian diesel, including into the United States.

The authorization does not permit transactions involving debits to accounts held at US financial institutions by the Central Bank of Russia, Russia’s National Wealth Fund, or the Russian Finance Ministry.

The move comes after Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin under which Moscow would supply millions of tons of diesel to global markets.
