US President Donald Trump has criticized the decision to award this year's Nobel Peace Prize to another recipient, claiming that his own efforts to resolve international conflicts deserved eight Nobel Peace Prizes.
Axar.az reports that Trump made the remarks in a lengthy post on Truth Social.
“I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else! In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel,” Trump said, referring to the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
Trump claimed to have resolved eight conflicts: Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Israel and Hamas.
“I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1,” he said, adding that he was also working to resolve the conflicts involving Iran and Russia and Ukraine.
Trump further claimed that his administration had prevented Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and helped secure the return of Israeli hostages, including the final 28, both living and dead.
He also credited himself with removing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from power, facilitating the release of more than 900 political prisoners from several Eastern European countries, and bringing home 196 hostages from around the world without paying ransom.
Trump added that he had persuaded NATO members to increase their defense spending targets from 2% to 5% of GDP, describing it as another achievement that many had considered impossible.
“The United States of America, represented by me, as your President, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn’t,” Trump noted.
He also criticized the Nobel Committee and the United Nations, claiming that the UN had played no role in the conflicts he said he had resolved.
“The Nobel ‘Peace’ Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization!” he added.
