12 dead in Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia

At least 12 people, including three children, have been killed in strikes on residential buildings in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia.

Axar.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the casualties in a post on his Telegram channel.

He said another 14 people had been injured, two of them in serious condition.

“Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site. Another 12 people may have been in the area during the attack, and their whereabouts are being clarified,” Zelensky said.

According to the Ukrainian president, 13 regions of Ukraine came under attack overnight, damaging residential buildings, infrastructure and railway facilities.

Zelensky alleged that Russia had struck Zaporizhzhia in response to the easing of sanctions on Russian diesel exports.

He stressed that reducing pressure on Russia was being interpreted by Moscow as a signal that it could continue the war.
