Poland investigates plot to kill PM and defence minister

Polish security services are investigating a possible plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz after receiving reports of potential threats against the two officials.

Axar.az reports, citing TVP World, that representatives of the police, the State Protection Service and the ABW domestic intelligence agency held a special meeting at the agency’s counterterrorism centre in Warsaw on Sunday.

According to reports, the State Protection Service initially received the information and passed it to police after conducting preliminary checks. Police are now working through their own sources and channels to verify the reports.

Authorities have not disclosed the precise nature of the threats or whether any suspects have been identified.

Tusk previously said in 2024 that he had received threats following the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. In August, Polish police detained a 23-year-old man accused of calling for the assassination of senior politicians.
