Afghanistan suspends BBC radio broadcasts

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture has suspended BBC radio broadcasts on FM frequencies across the country, a ministry official has said.

Axar.az reports, citing TOLO News, that Safiullah Raid, the ministry’s director of social media monitoring, said the decision was made because of what he described as repeated errors by the BBC.

The BBC has also confirmed that its radio broadcasts inside Afghanistan have been suspended.

A source told Reuters that talks were underway with Afghan authorities to resolve the situation.
