The diesel fuel supply agreement between Russia and the United States benefits both countries and global energy markets, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
Axar.az reports, citing TASS, that Peskov described the deal as an example of mutually beneficial cooperation between Moscow and Washington, saying he saw no connection between the agreement and Russia’s position on Ukraine.
"I don’t see any connection here. In fact, it is an example of Russia-US cooperation that benefits both parties a lot," Peskov said.
He warned that European Union sanctions and other unilateral measures could hinder implementation of the fuel deal.
Peskov also said European countries remained major buyers of Russian crude oil and petroleum products, adding that Russia would continue selling its energy resources on international markets.
“This corresponds to interests of the United States, this corresponds to interests of international energy markets, and is in line with interests of the Russian Federation, and so it takes place,” he said.
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump held a phone call. Following the conversation, the United States lifted its ban on diesel imports from Russia until April 7, 2027.
