Saudi-led coalition strikes fuel depot in Yemen’s Sanaa

A Saudi-led coalition has struck a fuel depot on the outskirts of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, as Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against the group escalates.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that the coalition targeted the Yemen Petroleum Company’s Sabah central station. The Yemen Petroleum Company said the facility was not holding petroleum stocks at the time and that the strike had not affected oil reserves or supply chains.

The attack followed a warning from the Saudi-led coalition urging civilians to stay away from the depot. The Houthis had threatened a “harsh and painful” response to any strikes on Sanaa, with spokesperson Yahya Saree warning that potential targets could include Saudi Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran and an oil refinery in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia has resumed military operations in Yemen in support of the internationally recognised government after the Houthis made advances along the Red Sea coast toward the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The escalation follows a series of Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, including a missile strike on Riyadh on Saturday that killed 13 people, according to Reuters.
