Belgian ambassador summoned to Russian Foreign Ministry

Belgian Ambassador to Moscow Michel Zherebtsoff was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday over what Moscow described as unfounded allegations by Belgian officials regarding security threats allegedly emanating from Russia.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the Russian Foreign Ministry said the diplomat was told that Moscow firmly rejected claims by Belgium’s military and political leadership about growing hybrid, sabotage and direct military threats to Belgium and Europe.

The ministry also urged Brussels to tone down what it described as factually unsupported anti-Russian rhetoric and avoid actions that could heighten tensions in Europe.
