Heavy rain kills two in Istanbul

Heavy rainfall in Istanbul, Turkiye, yesterday has claimed two lives.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that two people died as a result of the heavy rain in the city’s Fatih and Sarıyer districts.

The city, which broke a 41-year rainfall record, received 2,518 emergency calls, while 200 people stranded in Ayazaga were rescued.

Due to adverse weather conditions, 43 flights were diverted to other airports.

It should be noted that classes at schools in Istanbul and five other Turkish provinces have been suspended for one day because of the weather.
