Russia adds journalist Nevzorov to terrorism list

Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) has added journalist and television presenter Alexander Nevzorov to its list of individuals linked to extremism and terrorism.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Nevzorov and his wife, Lidia, were added to the list in March 2025 as members of an organization designated extremist by Russian authorities. The latest listing names Nevzorov individually.

Inclusion on the list entails the blocking of bank accounts and restrictions on financial transactions, with limited exceptions, including certain salary payments and the payment of taxes and fines.

Russia’s Justice Ministry designated Nevzorov a “foreign agent” in April 2022. In February 2023, a Moscow court sentenced him in absentia to eight years in prison over allegations of spreading knowingly false information about the Russian military.

In May 2025, authorities opened another case against him over failure to comply with foreign-agent requirements and financing of extremist activity. In August 2026, a court in St. Petersburg ordered his arrest in absentia for two months, with the term to begin upon his detention or extradition to Russia.
