CENTCOM rejects Iranian claims on US military deaths

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has rejected claims made by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz, an attack on a container ship, and American military casualties.

Axar.az reports that, in a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said the IRGC had falsely claimed control of the strategic waterway, asserting that the United States and its regional partners controlled the strait.

CENTCOM also denied the IRGC’s claim that a Singapore-flagged container ship had struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday.

According to the US command, the civilian vessel M/V GFS Pride was hit by an IRGC projectile and sank while being towed to shore. It added that the main shipping routes remained clear of mines and that more than 40 vessels had transited the strait in the previous 24 hours.

CENTCOM further rejected Iranian claims that hundreds of US service members had been killed in Jordan, stating that three American personnel were killed in action in July while partner forces defended against Iranian attacks.
