20M Ukrainians could flee to Europe if Russia wins war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that a Russian victory could lead to 20 million Ukrainians moving to Europe, saying Moscow’s objective extends beyond capturing Ukraine’s eastern territories.

Axar.az reports, citing the Office of the President of Ukraine, that Zelensky made the remarks during a press conference in Brussels on October 16.

“What will happen if we fall? How many? 20 million Ukrainians will come to Europe because he will destroy us and drive us out. Putin wants to destroy us. He does not respect us, our sovereignty or territorial integrity. He truly believes that we are not a country, not a people,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president questioned whether Moscow would stop after taking the Donbas, arguing that Russia’s actions showed its ambitions were broader.

“Do you really believe he wants only the eastern part of our country? Of course not. That is why we ask you to stand firm and defend our country. Yes, it comes with great pain and terrible losses,” he added.
