Bomb threats target schools across Europe

Hundreds of schools across several European countries have received bomb threats, prompting evacuations and police investigations.

Axar.az reports, citing The Telegraph, that around 300 schools in Northern Ireland received threatening emails believed to have originated outside the United Kingdom. Police are treating the messages as a hoax, saying initial checks found nothing suspicious.

Schools in Scotland also received threatening messages, with Glasgow authorities reporting that 148 schools in the city and neighbouring areas had been affected. Some schools were evacuated before pupils were allowed to return.

Similar threats were reported in Hungary, where more than 70 schools were targeted and several were evacuated. Officials said no explosives had been found. In neighbouring Serbia, more than 100 schools reportedly received bomb threats.

The messages threatened attacks involving explosive devices and included references to Islamic extremism.

Authorities across the affected countries are investigating the incidents.
