Tanker catches fire in restricted zone of Hormuz

Oil tanker violating declared rules catches fire in southern corridor of Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy stated.

Axar.az reports that, according to the statement, the IRGC detected an oil tanker on fire in a prohibited zone, violating rules.

It noted that the tanker had switched off its tracking systems despite previous warnings and attempted to pass through a prohibited zone in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Responsibility for the consequences of uncoordinated actions lies with those who violate the rules, and this leads to an expansion of insecurity,” the statement said.
