Witkoff to meet Putin to arrange trilateral summit

US special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Russia on Wednesday to seek a trilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said.

Axar.az reports, citing Norwegian newspaper VG, that the meeting would be based on proposals concerning security and economic development.

Store made the remarks after a dinner on Tuesday evening with Zelensky and security advisers from the EU, NATO, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy.

He expressed hope that Europe would also be represented at a potential trilateral meeting, saying the sensitive issues involved could only be discussed and negotiated by national leaders.

A source cited by TASS also confirmed Witkoff’s planned visit to Russia. It remains unclear whether the meeting will take place in St. Petersburg.

It should be noted that Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today.
