U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff has described his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg as constructive, saying they focused on a peace framework for Ukraine.
Axar.az reports that Witkoff made the remarks in a post on X, saying that the discussions would continue through trilateral talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine at the technical level.
“In St. Petersburg, we met with President Putin to build on the progress made in Oslo with President Zelensky, discuss a peace framework,” Witkoff wrote.
“These discussions were constructive, and will continue with trilateral talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine at the technical level,” he added.
