China has begun preparations for a meeting between the leaders of Russia, the United States, and China, which could be included in the programme of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has said.

Axar.az reports, citing Interfax, that Ushakov made the remarks following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“Our Chinese friends, the hosts of the APEC summit, will undertake—or rather, are already undertaking—preparations for this meeting. If circumstances are favourable, they will, of course, include it in the programme of events in Shenzhen,” Ushakov said.

Commenting on the possible agenda of the trilateral talks, Ushakov said Russia had put forward several practical considerations.

According to the Russian presidential aide, the possibility of holding a Russia-US-China summit in Shenzhen was discussed during Putin’s meeting with Witkoff. None of the three capitals has rejected the idea, he added.
